"Nature will bear the closest inspection. She invites us to lay our eye level with her smallest leaf, and take an insect view of its plain." - Henry David Thoreau

Startled Rabbit
Think I surprised this rabbit when I came by early in the morning. He paused long enough for me to get a few pictures, which they usually don't do when I'm this close.
"All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a Thousand Enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. "
"A foraging wild creature, intent above all upon survival, is as strong as the grass."

Spring Mushrooms
Mushroom Cluster May 2016
"Overnight, very
Whitely, discreetly,
Very quietly
Nobody sees us,
Stops us, betrays us;
The small grains make room.
...
We are shelves, we are
Tables, we are meek,
We are edible,
Nudgers and shovers
In spite of ourselves.
Our kind multiplies:
We shall by morning
Inherit the earth.
Our foot’s in the door."
-Excerpted from Sylvia Plath's "Mushroom" poem
I don't think anyone could explain them better.
